چکیده
Introduction: Potash refers to the various naturally occurring water-soluble compounds of potassium used as a traditional food additive in Nigeria. Several health warnings have highlighted deleterious effect their consumption.
Aim: The present study is aimed at evaluating effects graded doses potash consumption on haematological and hepatorenal indices using Wistar rat models.
Materials Methods: was locally sourced elemental composition determined by X-Ray diffraction (XRD). Twenty (20) male rats (170 – 200g) were for divided into four (4) groups five (5) animals each. Group 1 served control while Groups 2 4 experimental group received an aqueous mixture via oral gavage 200, 400 800mg/kg respectively thirty (30) days.
Results: XRD analysis revealed presence (27.44%), phosphorus (14.27%), antimony (5.18%), barium (4.27%), fluorine (2.78%), cadmium (2.06%), yttrium (1.63%), tellurium (1.32%), caesium (1.12%), niobium (1.04%), sodium (0.42%) germanium (0.06%). Results from parameters show significant reduction mean values red blood cell count, haemoglobin concentration packed volume among compared (p<0.05) significantly increased corpuscular volume, haemoglobin, white lymphocytes, neutrophils, MID percentage, aspartate aminotransferase, alanine alkaline phosphatase, urea, creatine, sodium, chloride ions (P<0.05).
Conclusion: data presented has shown that chronic can negatively alter profiles rats. Therefore, this considers potash, possible toxicant blood, liver kidney.

Received: 29/08/2014 Revised: 14/09/2014 Accepted: 15/09/2014 Abstract The present study was planned to investigate the clinical and haemato-biochemical changes in F0 male Wistar rats fed with graded doses of citrinin (CIT). The animals were divided into four groups comprising 25 rats in each, viz., group I: 1ppm CIT; group II: 3ppm CIT; group III: 5ppm CIT; and group IV: 0 ppm CIT (control). A...

Background: Glyphosate is the most widely used herbicide, and it poses numerous health risks to the environment and living organisms. This study aimed at assessing the protective role of Adansonia digitata (A. digitata) on glyphosate-induced hepatorenal toxicity in a Wistar rat model. Methods: Twenty-five rats were randomly divided into five groups of five animals each. The first group did not...

The renal- and hepato-toxicity induced by abamectin pesticide (Vertimec) and a commercial form of a bio-insecticide Bacillus thuringiensis (Agerin) in male albino rats were evaluated. Blood picture and blood glucose level were investigated. Male albino rats were administered dietary doses each equivalent to 1/10 or 1/100 of the LD50 values of each toxicant for 30 consecutive days. Abamectin was...
